Race prep!
I thought it would be helpful to post some tips and reminders as we prepare for our first race. Please jump in and add your comments for what makes a successful race day!
We will bring several team items: a large first aid kit; 2 cases of water (to supplement what others bring); several rolls of TP; the team banner, a tent and a table or two. It is nice to have a folding chair with you, as it is a long day with a lot of sitting around between bursts of activity.
Random thoughts:
Bring your uniform! It consists of either a unisuit or a uniform top and trou, or any navy blue bottom (shorts, trou, tights) with the uni top. If it is chilly, wear a white shirt under the uni top.
Rain gear can make the difference between a bearable day and a miserable one. Don't rely on the weatherman.
Everyone brings food and drink to share, but make sure YOU have what YOU need to get you through.
Bring the directions to the hotel and from the hotel to the race site. A map, even if you have GPS, is often very helpful for the big picture. Bring your cell phone charger and roster list (you'll get the roster this week). It is amazing how much you'll use the phone to find teammates for dinner, in the hotel, and at the race site.
Once boat and oar assignments are made, know what they are for your races. Rig well in advance and set your footstretchers and oarlock spacers on land to save time and make your row to the start less stressful. Know your race and launch times and let your boatmates know where you are if you leave the area for any reason. Rick will give us specific times for our boat meetings before we launch. Be on time, and ready (sunscreen on, final trip to the portajohn done, water bottle in hand).
Hydrate and eat well and wisely the week before the race.
Most important of all: GET PSYCHED TO HAVE FUN AND ROW HARD!!
If any one wants to view the actual course, log on to Regatta Central, click on our race, click on info. packet. It pretty much covers everything including where you can park!

Newbies may especially find this to be helpful
Bring lots and lots of sunscreen.
EMM,
Have a GREAT race this weekend. We will be with you in mind and spirit!!

Take dry socks!! Even if it's not rainy nothing feels better than dry socks between races. Lots of baby powder and dry t-shirts help too.
